Situation
Historical workforce reporting had to reconcile people, multiple employment periods, competing hire dates, termination evidence, and changing organizational assignments without rewriting history.
Decision risk
Without governed identity, grain, effective dates, and source precedence, leadership could not reliably explain who was active, which event belonged to which employment period, or why a reported population changed.
Governed response
The design separated person identity from employment spells, established effective-dated state and event objects, and made chronology, overlap, source-row disposition, and exception controls visible.
Demonstrated evidence
Prior-role evidence supports reconciliation of 30K+ lifecycle records and 29K+ governed employment spells. It establishes a controlled source foundation—not universal downstream deployment or enterprise certification.

SEMANTIC ARCHITECTURE · POWER BI ASSURANCE
When a Power BI model became too complex to trust
Situation
A workforce model had accumulated hundreds of measures and extensive report-layer logic across current and historical concepts, making authoritative logic difficult to trace, test, and maintain.
Decision risk
Duplicate KPIs, DAX-reconstructed source logic, weak relationship controls, and stale report bindings can turn a technically refreshed model into an unreliable decision product.
Governed response
The semantic design was reorganized around workforce state, snapshots, employment spells, events, dimensions, lineage, QA objects, declared relationships, and thin measures over governed components.
Demonstrated evidence
The redesign reduced measures from 689 to 145—a 79% measure-count reduction—and assurance covered every visual and 60+ workforce scenarios. No runtime-performance improvement is claimed.

DATA LINEAGE · SOURCE ASSURANCE
When a green data pipeline was not safe to release
Situation
A recruiting-data integration reported successful runs, but job status and refresh timestamps could not prove that the complete business payload survived ingestion and transformation.
Decision risk
A pipeline can execute successfully while nested structures, custom fields, business keys, relationships, or decision-critical meaning are incomplete downstream.
Governed response
The review traced 12 source endpoints across five data layers, testing payload continuity, identifiers, object relationships, mappings, semantic bindings, security requirements, and acceptance criteria.
Demonstrated evidence
The cross-layer review found systematic payload-boundary truncation across core Applicant Tracking System (ATS) entities—meaning required source data was not surviving intact into downstream analytical layers—and blocked unsafe promotion into executive reporting. The final report documented the defect and governing release decision. This case does not claim completion of every underlying source-platform remediation.

IDENTITY RESOLUTION · LIFECYCLE GOVERNANCE
When recruiting intent and employee truth did not match
Situation
An ATS could show accepted recruiting intent while the HRIS remained authoritative for whether, when, and under which employment period a person became an employee.
Decision risk
Changed identifiers, rehires, no-shows, ambiguous evidence, and different business-event dates can distort hires, starts, workforce populations, and staffing plans when systems are forced into false agreement.
Governed response
Separate candidate, employee, recruiting-user, employment-spell, effective-period, match-strength, multiple-match, and exception states preserved what each source was authoritative for.
Demonstrated evidence
Prior-role analysis established effective-dated candidate/user-to-employee bridge contracts and kept unmatched records in explicit lifecycle classifications. Exact match rates and bridge certification are not claimed.

KPI GOVERNANCE · WORKFORCE DEMAND
When the wrong denominator changed the KPI
Situation
Operational demand classifications looked similar but represented different business events. Combining them changed the denominator and the apparent recruiting requirement.
Decision risk
A mathematically correct formula still gives the wrong executive answer when unlike populations, QA-only records, offers, starts, hires, or capacity are treated as one grain.
Governed response
The design separated true demand classes, retained non-demand records for lineage, excluded QA-only records from operating denominators, and kept pending starts and recruiter capacity at their own grains.
Demonstrated evidence
Candidate logic preserved QA-only demand records for lineage without inflating the true-order denominator. It supports a defensible definition—not improved Fill Rate, recruiter productivity, or staffing outcomes.

COHORT ANALYTICS · RETENTION CONTROL
When retention reporting mixed different populations
Situation
Legacy hire-level reporting and governed employment-spell cohorts produced plausible but materially different populations and retention curves.
Decision risk
Inconsistent identity, rehires, maturity, cohort entry, or checkpoints can change cohort size, denominators, loss timing, and comparisons while still appearing polished.
Governed response
The architecture defined employment-spell identity, cohort population, checkpoint facts and maturity, eligibility, organizational assignment, reconciliation, relationship QA, and release gates.
Demonstrated evidence
The work exposed a material legacy-versus-governed population difference before leadership reporting and kept the product gated. It does not claim improved retention, ramp, productivity, or sales performance.

When the analytics system depended on the person who built it
Situation
A technically capable analytical product still depended on builder knowledge for refresh decisions, exception handling, release judgment, and interpretation of the governed business rules.
Decision risk
Without explicit ownership, operating evidence, runbooks, change controls, and knowledge transfer, a decision system can become fragile even when its underlying model is sound.
